BioRugged Integrates Mark 5 into Ethiopia’s National Digital ID Initiative

BioRugged has integrated the Mark 5 biometric kit as part of Ethiopia’s national digital ID initiative. The integration was carried out in partnership with Lamino Engineering PLC under the Ethiopian Bankers’ Association (EBA). The project supports digital identity verification processes within the banking sector, contributing to more secure and accessible financial services across the country.

Mark 5

The Mark 5 is a laptop-based biometric enrollment kit developed under the Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP) framework. It has been adapted to meet the requirements of the Ethiopian national digital ID program.
Key features of the Mark 5 include:
• Rain and Shock proof case with an IP67 environmental rating
• BR Power Control with external and solar charging option
• Laptop / Notebook
• BR dual camera for Facial and Document images, LED lights
• IB Kojak (PL) FAP 60 fingerprint scanner
• BR Battery Control, charging batteries in and outside the kit
• All cables can be stored inside the kit
• And screen, 12", stored in the kit
• Mosip-compliant dual iris camera
• Anti-Vibration USB hub with USB 3.0
• Extension hub with Ethernet, HDMI and Type C interfaces• Wired keyboard and mouse
• Optional: Mobile foldable solar panels and car charger
• Optional: Additional battery
• Optional: for 1KV to 3 KV pure sign wave inverter generators (Petrol)
• Optional: 500Wh solar generator (Lithium Battery based)
This integration confirms that the Mark 5 performs reliably within the national digital ID ecosystem and supports the objectives of the Ethiopian Bankers’ Association initiative.
