THE CHALLENGE
Digital convenience is growing at a fast rate all over the world as the number of smartphones is also on the increase. Many countries have large numbers of mobile subscribers
and most banks have their own mobile applications.
However, the lack of adequate infrastructure and funding in certain areas of the globe have taken some banks have gone the route of adopting mobile banking from the offset of their operations. Also, most mobile operators are playing the role of banking as one of their services, thus making money transfers available to rural communities in most countries of Africa.
One of these mobile operators in association with a bank have requested a solution for a device that would enable the enrollment of mobile banking applicants in any geographical area. BioRugged developed then a solution that can be used in this instance
and in any other registration process.
THE SOLUTION
The solution had to be cost-competitive and present a degree of physical strength that would enable working in challenging environments. It needed an FBI compliant type of fingerprint scanner and ICAO compliant camera to capture top-quality pictures of potential applicants.
BioRugged developed an integrated device called the Ruggbo 30RS equipped with a 13MP camera & FBI certified fingerprint reader. The Ruggbo 30RS has up to 3 hot-swappable batteries to allow three days of operation without recharging.
The Ruggbo 30RS has been successfully used in other registration applications such as eKYC and biometric ID card registration and verification.
Branding opportunities on the device present a host of possibilities from its colour to the printing of logos or advertising messages.
